Sorry I have now found a new home for my TopUpTV supplied Thomson DTI6300-16 set top box, it's going to be dumped at the local municipal recycling centre.  I wouldn't want to encourage anyone else to subscribe to this lacklustre service.

But that's to Bobby I'll have the disk drive out of it first.

Why waste time : jump to conclusions ie send me your complete Thomson DTI 6300-16 and I'll send you a perfectly good 160gb (ex. Thomson) HD and pay All postages.

I've found my Thomson box behaves most of the time on the latest software, the problems or bugs I've found:
fast-forward or rewind at higher than 8x sometimes messes up,
fast-forward near the beginning of a recording; sometimes jumps,
on recordings with a lot of interference; sometimes the box gets its knickers in a twist; sometimes Fast-forward will jump over the bad bit; sometimes not,
recordings somehow get corrupt and lock up the box and generally make things screwy.

Hi ya! I was reading this thread before I got a Thomson DTI 6300 box off ebay as a christmas gift. Well.....  Tongue

When I set it up it turns out the guy who owned it before did in fact have a defunct TUTV account so now basically I have a glorified regular freeview box and the hard drive is useless. I tried a hard reset and everything but can't record or anything. I get that message that says you must have a TUTV account to record anything no matter what I do. Angry

So then I called TUTV as I had read somewhere if I got a subscription and cancelled it would still record after I cancelled. But first I have to get this guy to call TUTV himself and have the TUTV CAM # disassociated with his name/ex-account. And after 20 minutes on the phone with them they could do nothing! If he does do that, then I can get the 30 day trial. Does anyone know if I will be able to use the record features for sure after I cancel the account later? If need be, I can keep TUTV (plan to jut get the movies option for £5) for a month or two first but honestly the content sucks and I don't want to waste my money. My only other option is to go after the guy for a refund because he assured everyone on his ad that the box would work and record fine but obviously it doesn't! But even then, with paypal that will take 30 days. Sucky Christmas for me! Cry

Sorry to babble on!!! Can any of you wise gurus help me?!? Wink

The only thing I can identify with is fast rewind - if I record, say a programme and 64x the ads, if I overshoot and fast rewind sometimes it returns to the very beginning.

Forgot to say I did have lock up a few weeks back but these are noticed by their absence - I don't remember any previous ones, sorry.

No, you will be forced to retain a subscription to TopUpTV which is not worth it just to be able to record.  TopUpTV offers no real added value, the live channels have been chopped down to virtually nothing and the over night downloads are repetative and uninteresting.
