Possible reuse of Daewoo 608P
Jun 21st, 2012 at 4:48pm

Because they no longer conform to current DVB transmission standards I was just about to consign three Daewoo 608P STBs to the bin when a thought occurred to me after reviewing all posts about this box.  I had not realised that it had an RF output (has it?) but, if so, could it be used simply as a Freeview modulator for TVs without SCART?  Or have I completely missed the picture?

Any observations will be appreciated.

The problem is that the tuner no longer works, so there's no way to get audio and video signals into the modulator (unless you're very handy with a soldering iron). It will not modulate a signal on the scart input AFAIK, but maybe it's worth a try.

The website you're at Tongue says it has a modulator!

Pace-designed OnDigital STBs could, but then their products were usually superior to others.

My family's OnDigital STBs do exactly that when a signal is input into their "VCR Scart" socket, they're "ON" and the sending device sets Pin 8 high (which is the norm when Freeview STBs are "ON").

Why not try it now?
