No transmitter work? Tell us how you know that? eg a phone helpline or a website?
Use forum search eg Tyne Tees and Digital Switchover and 19th of September retuning day. Screen RETUNE SOON messages appearing just prior to such events are common experiences, and some Freeview channels also have their own shows with these screen messages telling us to retune.
Wednesday's retune affects many transmitters and relays, so we will have to check in the mornings, afternoons and evenings just in case.
I can video record or use the DVD Recorder to get a playback of what the present channel names and numbers are eg using the EPG or the list button. It depends on if I've chosen to use the Favourites option to hide some channels or leave the whole lot still available.
As I'm using SD not HD Freeview receivers, I can't tune in the HD channels on the local Waltham TV region group number 58. At present, I get 110+ channels and will compare these and their new number changes, too.
With excellent reception Winter and Summer based on upgrading to WF100 cables, the need for signal boosters has been reduced following an increased signal strength output for most of the Freeview groups. The lower frequencies aren't as good when using the wideband all-frequencies aerials though.
I've had to test various cables from various AV equipment as well as from the satcure.co.uk website and amazon.co.uk and argos.co.uk and grade their performance based on various set top boxes with Help/Diagnostics and TV Signal tests.
Luckily, I'm OK eg 80% to 90% safety margin for all channels and without getting picture or sound problems or missing segments during the recordings.
We test various signal boosters and some produce minor improvements. I've tested 30db power gain and higher strength signal boosters from the TV Shopping Channels like bid tv. They weren't helpful, as my reception was sufficient for my needs already. Others may find such signal boosters as essential, especially for reduced Winter climate conditions, maybe 10% to 20% less picture quality, that could destroy the stability of viewed shows as well as recordings. That's why I recorded the +1 channels of favourite tv shows as well.
Others use the opposite of signal booster ie variable attenuator adapters fitted just before the aerial input goes to the Freeview equipment. A slight adjustment helps test reception improvements or not.
See forum search for previous recommendations.
Please state Freeview equipment eg make and model number and if a set top box or a recorder or a TV with Freeview.
Some makes and models require tuning to channel 80 prior to retuning or clearing out all channels first for a fresh start yet it helps if there's the manual retune for each group eg SD groups and the HD group if that applies, too.
I tune to 29, 54, 56, 57 and 61 not the HD group 58. Your groups will be displayed here:

Local engineering work continues as the switchover continues. Your transmitter, is it listed here?
