We’ve previously reported that ITV’s text service Teletext was to close in 2010. It seems that the plan to shut down Teletext has been advanced, and ITV’s Teletext service is set to cease in two months.

Teletext Page 139 on analogue and digital is reporting the following:

“Teletext’s news and information service is switching off in December 2009. Owner Associated Newspapers confirmed the decision, saying the service had been loss-making in recent years and no viable business model could be found.”

Teletext Holidays, presumably still able to generate some revenue, is set to continue beyond December 2009.
