YouView TV Service Hit By More Delays

Filed under Catch-up TV, Internet TV.

YouView LogoYouView, formerly known as Project Canvas, is reportedly set to be delayed until 2012.

The service that combines Freeview (for live TV), with on-demand content over the Internet, was originally set to launch in 2010, but was pushed back to a predicted launch of “mid 2011″. According to various online sites, its been hit by technical problems, with a launch now not expected before 2012.

2011 was widely predicted to be the year of Internet TV services, and of course we already have Virgin, TalkTalk, BT Vision and Fetch TV delivering TV, movies and sport over our home broadband connections.

At the time of writing, we’ve not had formal confirmation that the YouView service is slipping into 2012, but the reported delays are detailed on sites such as The Telegraph , Which? and The Register.

YouView is a joint venture with partners including BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel Five, BT, TalkTalk and Arqiva. More on YouView
