TV Channel Five Becomes 5

Written on Monday, February 14th, 2011 at 2:33 pm by Radio&Telly
Filed under Digital TV, Freeview Channels.

Five Becomes 55, Channel Five, Five, Channel 5… The various names given to our fifth TV channel since the channel’s launch in 1997.

5 changed to Five in 2002, in attempt to change its image and identity, but from today (14 Feb 2011), it’s back to the number 5, and not the word five.

To accompany the change, there’s a new logo, and a new (and fairly obtrusive) DOG – Digital on-screen graphic, showing the new 5.

As well as the rebranding for the main Channel 5, we can apparently expect a change of name for the digital channel FIVER (with 5* down as favourite), and an expected change for Five USA (to 5USA, apparently)
