BT Vision Price Changes

BT Vision LogoBT made a few changes to its TV offering, BT Vision, over the weekend, and as we’re seeing a lot of interest in BT Vision from our site visitors, we thought it would help to explain what’s changed:

BT’s been trying to find the right way to brand its slightly complex package offering in the past. We’ve seen various Bronze, Silver and Gold offerings, then the TV, Replay, Kids, Music packs. Now BT Vision has been simplified down to:

  • BT Vision Essential: £4 a month gets you a Free BT Vision+ box, all of the Freeview channels, plus access to the catch-up TV services from the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 (BT Vision Replay)
  • BT Vision Unlimited: £12.50 gets you everything – A free BT Vision+ Box, and access to all of the on-demand services, including Replay, a wide range of on-demand TV shows, Vision Kids, Film Club, TV, Sport & Music. With this package, you also get free ESPN.

Optional extras include Sky Sports 1, Sky Sports 2, ESPN (free on Unlimited) and Bolly and Beyond. Activation for both packages is a one-off £30.

BT’s key selling point is its “TV from £4 a month”, which includes the high-spec hard-disk recorder. A clear message for those considering saving some money by switching away from Sky.

BT Results

If you’ve been watching any of the news channels today, you’ll see that BT’s profits have been announced. As part of that news release, BT has confirmed that BT Vision has now passed 600,000 subscribers for the first time. It’s still got some way to go to catch up with Sky’s 10 million subscribers, but the growth in Vision takeup is encouraging.

Vision vs Sky

With many less than happy with the Murdoch empire at the moment, we’re seeing a sharp increase in the number of questions we’re being asked about BT Vision, as people are considering a move over to Vision. To explain the differences, we’ve just added a BT Vision vs Sky page.
