Several years ago I used to listen via satellite to Primetime Radio, but it disappeared.
Now Our Kind of Music has gone!
Here in the Netherlands I only could listen to Our Kindof Music via internet.
I did not listen every day, but still quite often, and always for many hours.
Please bring it back, even with commercials it would be worth it!
For the time being, I now use the internet to listen to KLUX (Corpus Christi, Texas), and KJUL (Las Vegas, Nevada).

We are not on DAB or broadcasting on FM yet and it is still in a formative stage….but there are developments in the pipeline.

I have been trying to find this great station on the Internet, but without success. The website address fails to connect. Any suggestions, other than please bring the station back to DAB or even broadcast it on VHF instead of all the nearly identical, noise generators which are currently there.

This is John Stewart from Germany again (see January 29th).
At the Ofcom website, under the link
http://www.ofcom.org.uk/radio/ifi/rbl/rbupdates/update0909/ is a
reference to DAB station Format Changes. One of these is the removal of Our Kind of Music. I sent an email to support@getdigitalradio.com] saying that there are hundreds of notes posted on the Internet lamenting the loss of this station. For some of us, it was the only station we listened to and, since its loss, we have not been able to find an alternative. I asked why the station was removed and whether, due to public demand, it could be restored.
The reply I received was “As far as I know, Our Kind Of Music wasn’t “removed” but it was that the owners decided to cease broadcasting the station. I’m not sure for what reason though. It would seem unlikely that this decision would be reversed though.”
So, the future for Our Kind of Music doesn’t look too good at the moment.

The top up TV office in Kircaldy only employs 8 people on a rotating shift basis, I shouldn’t be telling you this, but this is why you can never get through, there is only ever 1 person on duty at the customer service centre, the whole thing is a complete mess, and they have ready prepared scripts so you wont cancel your subscription.

There is a device made by Aluratek Called a USB Internet radio Jukebox, Model AIRJ01F. It plugs into an USB Port on a computer.

It allows you to access radio stations worldwide. It has a station listed under nostalgia called “181 FM Vocal Jazz. United States. It is very similar to “Our Kind of Music”

Worth looking int, the device is about $30.

It’s cheap and nasty, especially the remote. The old box was much better. Clearly, it is the most ugly pvr ever, the designer was blind and bt have a new low cost-cutting budget!

i dont see what the problem is you people in england should be happy to recieve our wonderfull welsh channels.we in north wales have had your channels for years.And you see its not only an english problem we have been trying to get rid of the english channels for years but we have both and can see no problems please less! of this anti welsh tv rubbish iam reading on the forum we can read english??thanks john north wales!

We live in Chester and are absolutely pi**ed off with having the Welsh channels override the North West ones. our main TV (Phillips,in the lounge) recieves NW channels ok but to view them we have had to set up a “favourites” section. The one in the kitchen (Goodmans) will get NW channels, but the screen regularly freezes and we lose the volume. It’s the same with the ones in the bedrooms (Bush & Matsui).The idea of not paying our licence fee until this is sorted seems like a good one to us. Also, why don’t “radioandtelly.co.uk” start a petition to show just how many people this really affects.

Well i have only just come across! this rubbish!( We’re getting a number of reports that Freeview viewers in North West of England have lost their regional programmes after rescanning their set-top boxes. BBC North West has been replaced with Welsh regional programmes.) you people sound like a right bunch of little englander’s so whats the problem you are getting bbc 1&2wales itv wales plus s4c for years we have recieved english tv programes but unlike you bunch of tosser’s we dont make a fuss! You know, there’s nothing more interesting than seeing a bunch of racists getting cheesed off! over not being able to pick up!some english crap local tv programes.dont know if you know this but bbc 1 & 2 and itv 1 wales transmit their programes in english only s4c transmits in welsh thats all i got to say to you racists tossers across the border and thats from a very angry welshman!!!!!!!

Fed -up… an not a welsh speaker – I don’t need to be, Liverpool doesn’t have that many. Do the ‘powers that be’ realise that people will move away from the ITV channels in favour of local news elsewhere thereby hitting the already scarce viewing figures and then the advertising income? I am not interested if such and such a company is having a sale in Swansea!! Soon such and such company may realise that!!

The answer to Anonymous’ question is …The issue will not be resolved. My so who worked for the BBC says that when all regions have gone over to digital, the signal strengths will be turned up. This wont solve the problem but we can then all go out and buy new TV’s and PVR’s which will boost the economy and give the government more tax. Freeview and economic problems both solved at a stroke.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE bring back ‘OUR KIND OF MUSIC’, which was so nice to listen to, and was the reason for me to buy 2 DAB radios !!, which I’m sure will soon wear out now having to keep select another station with fewer adverts.

I only listened to two Internet radio stations – BBC Radio 4 for news and current events and Our Kind of Music. So far, I have been unable to find an alternative to Our Kind of Music. Surely, someone must know who made the decision to drop Our Kind of Music. I´m still trying to find out. I understand that a group of DAB radio stations, including Our Kind of Music, was bought or acquired by a company, which is the start point for my search.
