Indistinct sound spoils this high-sensitivity good-looker    Post Date: Mar 11, 2007

Review:
I bought this model on eBay because I'd heard that Echostar receivers were particularly sensitive and could therefore work in fringe reception areas more ably than other makes.

Positives:
Echostar's receiver will work where the Freeview signal is too weak for others to cope. It may mean that where you would otherwise need a signal amplifier, you wouldn't with this unit.

The receiver's best feature is its sharp and vivid picture quality. Regarding socketry, it has two SCARTS but no RF modulator (only pass-through). The GUI (on-screen displays) are extensively user-definable (e.g. for colour scheme, durations etc).

Negatives:
Inconveniently, when there's poor reception, not only does a channel drop-out - but the whole receiver crashes, requiring a cold-boot at the mains socket! This quickly becomes tiresome, for sure!

Sound quality. Dialogue/speech is always unclear and the viewer must concentrate excessively to discern what is being said, detracting from the programme.

Review:

Shockingly poor design effort by Echostar this ...

DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE THINGS.

Channels lock, several times a day and you have to power cycle (mains) to recover, uterly inept, what were their designers thinking of?? Software upgrades make no difference at all, neither does the factory reset. The layout and function of the remote control are extremely poor If you have the best part of £100 to throw away then go ahead and buy one but its less frustrating to popke your fivers down a drain, realy!

Got Argos to replaced it with another model as they no longer entertain it!

WARNING DON,T go any were near this Company or this Model. Its totally useless. Echo Star blaming every one else apart from themselves.

E-mailing them is a waste of time and there UK helpline has no idea how to resolve the problems with this box. Their only advice was to buy a new one to replace the T105. GEE THANKS.

PS I have been told Goodmans products aint to good either.

P.S. If you bought this box in the last year from ARGOS they will refund or replace, providing you have the reciept.
