This does not appear to be possible on another combined DVB-T/DVB-S box I have (a Kaon, which is in other respects a good performer). No switching between sat and DTT modes is required, which makes the Technomate great for watching a mix of, say, DTT channels from Freeview and FTA satellite broadcasts from 28.2E or 19.2E. IMHO, other aspects of performance are all at least acceptable for the relatively keen price, although the lack of MHEG support for Freeview channels is a clear drawback, and the only reason I would give it four rather than five stars. |

You can't delete the pre-programed transponders because once you do a satellight scan it reproduces all the old deleted transponders. 2.There is an adjustable symbol range option in the powerscan menu that is supposed to filter out the millions of unwanted normal channels but, it doesn't work. 3. There's no option to filter out data channels. 4. It doesn't like operating more than 2 dishes through a diseq switch. 5. It locks up when trying to find satellites. 6.There's no channel data software to use with a PC. So if you're after a simple freeview/FTA receiver, the technomate combo is ok, but if you want a feed hunting machine, buy a fortecstar. The technomates are a little bit faster than the fortecs but the lack of helpful features make the fortecs clear winners in the feed hunting arena. |

FTA digital Sat and Freview in one box. Installation and setup was pretty straight forward with no problems. But there were a few things which I found lacking but the Sat side is pretty well as expected. 1) If a channel is not transmitting when searching then you are unable to view it when it does, although it finds the channel. A furthur scan will not overwrite the existing channel, you have find and delete the old one manually. 1 amongst 5000!! 2) The 7 day EPG? It only displays the programme you are watching...sometimes. 3) The time display is always slow, losing about 5 mins a day, but has improved with the latest software, it was about 30 mins. 4) Software update is only by RS232 5) Interactive doesn't work on the Freeview. I have raised these points with Technomate in case it is my box at fault but alas no reply. |
