Post Date: Mar 11, 2007 Reviewer: Anon from Suffolk, England - See all reviews by Anon Review: This is a compact, attractive and well-specified receiver. It is easy to set-up and found all the channels broadcast from my nearest transmitter. It is notable that unlike the majority of budget Freeview receivers, it has a front panel LED display of the Freeview channel number it is tuned to. I like this feature for watching TV but it's particularly useful when listening to Freeview radio from the unit via one's hi-fi system, as one doesn't need to switch on the TV to select the radio station. It has two scart sockets (to connect both a TV and a recording device simultaneously). The remote is reasonably ergonomic and the channel up/down buttons are slightly larger than the rest and positioned apart. The unit's most significant weakness is that the picture quality is little more than mediocre. You will have more channels to choose from, but all of them will be blurry, no matter how good your signal! Channels 1-5 will be fuzzier than you're used to, using your TV's own tuner. |

Think it's a really decent box for the money and a beginner. However now it's a bit behind as not been able to find software updates for it for the 7 day listings...other than that it's still a decent box with plenty of sockets on the rear. |

After reading the reviews about this box in the forum. I took the plunge. Available at Currys for under £40. Installed in seconds found all channels. I'm near Peterborough in Cambs, used existing external aerial no upgrade necessary. Excellent picture quality. TV has two scarts, VCR has two scarts, but DVD player has to plug in the front of the TV in the AV sockets, but not too much of an annoyance. No instructions in the manual for connecting DVD player. Yes the clock display sometimes changes time by itself, but who cares when you get such satisfaction from the product at that price! Guides and menus work fine. Definitely recommended for a first box to dip your toe in. |
