TUCTH100 Not so bad as some say    Post Date: May 06, 2006

Review:
In spite of bad reviews I bought this item from Richer Sounds ( at
a good price) in March 2006 to replace my old Pace digibox. So
far, no problems. I don't much care for the graphic display on
the TV Guide which compares unfavourably with the Humax, but
the TUCTH100 is quite user friendly and I like the one touch
recording facility in TV Guide. Direct Navigator enables you to
access your recordings and a sort of pie chart gives you a
graphic idea of how much space is left on the HD. The machine
is a little sluggish changing channels, and it did record the
wrong programme once, but on the whole I have few complaints
- so far. My impression is that Panasonic have ironed out many
of the bugs

Review:

Very disappointing piece of equipment, clearly a bad buy! Currently only surpassed by poor service from our Panasonic dealer.

Purchased in April '05, never reliable, frequent retunes, slow to change channels, cut outs etc. Then the hard drive went wrong, unable to access through navigator. Finally digital tuner is going west and has to auto tune every time we want to watch, hopeless! Phoned Panasonic who said they had a 'number' that had gone wrong and it needed to be replaced, dealer insisted needed repair but agreed to replace when they saw how useless it was. Two weeks on no replacement.DON'T BUY ONE.

Review:
I first bought a Sagem 80Gb on trial this was so appaling I swopped it (with some more cash obviously) for the Panasonic which seemed much better and well worth the extra money for the twin tuner and timer recording ease... up til last night I would have given it 5* and thought it was a top bananna !

.... unfortunately as I write this it decided not to work last night and will not switch on from standby mode.. having no power off switch, as yet I have not found out how to re-boot it.. leaving the power lead out has not done the trick

I too have had some problems with the "information banner " popping up ! another grizzle is that it seems to only record in two picture sizes and consequently "chops" the wide screen digital pictures when it records..

I will update this when I get mine fixed or replaced tomorrow..

It is unbelievable to me that they cannot take a standard Video recorder and put a digital receiver in it !!! or put a twin one in their DMRE85HEBSM
