This unit cannot be switched on without a remote control, I contacted Hauppauge and they sent me a brand new remote FOC! I therefore think this company gives excellent customer service! As a stand alone the unit is very good, small, easy to tune. I did notice that both the unit and the separate 12v power adaptor run hot. According to the Hauppauge forum this is normal. In STB mode the digital teletext and interactive services are not available. When connected to a PC I think the manufacturer's spec is way too low. I run a 2.8Ghz processor with 512Mg RAM, it works perfectly. In this mode the teletext is OK and mode a 7 day EPG is available. The set up is complicated by having to download the latest software and drivers from the German site but full instructions are available from the Hauppauge forum. For the price (new) an excellent dual purpose set I am certainly pleased with mine so far! Was this review helpful to you?   (Report this)
