Text / interactive services on Virgin
Jan 22nd, 2008 at 12:39am

We're helping out with a question for another website, and have hit a stumbling block. The question relates to Text / Interactive services on a Virgin Media box. The page we're looking at is http://www.switchhelp.co.uk/faq_teletext.html

I'm not on Virgin, so can't check myself. Our Virgin Media correspondent reports that his "press the red button" doesn't work on his V+ box - He gets a "loading" message for 30 seconds, then back to TV

From searching around, it seems that text services for BBC1, ITV and Channel 4 only seem to work for ex-Telewest people, and those formerly with NTL have problems.

There also seem to be problems with text services when connecting using the HDMI on V+ boxes, as opposed to SCART leads.

Sounds pretty poor, when compared to Sky and Freeview. Anyone out there confirm the score here?

Thanks

Re. text services. I have the standard cable box, the "red button" prompt doesn't take you to digital text, as would a freeview box, instead you can access a limited text service by pressing "interactive" on the remote, which will take you to a menu of available text services.
Pressing the red button when any channel shows the "press red" DOG doesn't do anything, apart from showing the "please wait, loading" message for a short time, then nothing.
BTW, I'm an ex NTL customer, using scart leads from box to TV.
