Argos Catalogue Now On Your Telly

Argos LogoArgos, famous for its laminated books of dreams, has just launched a TV service.

Argos TV launched at 7pm on Wednesday the 15 June 2011. The channel is currently available on Sky (channel 642), as well as online via the Argos website

At launch, Argos TV is a 24 hours a day service, but it’s not all live content. Weekdays, the service has live programming from 7pm-11pm, and weekends it’s live from 3pm to 11pm. The channel offers product demonstrations, and you can order online, by phone, or using the Argos iPhone app. You can reserve for instore pick-up, or have products delivered to your home.

Earlier this month, Argos announced an 8% decline in sales, and the launch of the Argos TV channel is presumably part of a strategy to expand the brand into new areas, including turf that’s being exploited by QVC, Bid TV, JML and the other shopping channels.

The new channel is being operated by ETV Media Group. We understand that this new TV channel will be a one year trial for Argos, and the company hasn’t ruled out making the channel available on other digital TV platforms.
