still a bit shaken up writing this if i’m honest. was driving my durango back from a family thing yesterday evening, pretty normal highway speeds, and all of a sudden the car just wouldn’t shift anymore, stuck in what felt like third or fourth gear with the rpms climbing way higher than normal just to maintain speed. managed to get off at the next exit and pulled into a gas station to let it sit for a bit, and when i started it back up it seemed to reset itself and shifted normally again which honestly confused me more than it reassured me. drove it straight home at low speeds just to be safe and haven’t touched it since, it’s just sitting in my driveway right now while i figure out what to actually do. my brother in law looked at the code reader thing he has and said it threw something related to the transmission control module but he wasn’t confident reading exactly what it meant beyond that, said dodge transmissions can be finicky with software related faults that aren’t always straightforward mechanical issues. i’ve been scrolling through a few groups trying to figure out where to even take it since i don’t want to just hand it over to whoever’s closest without knowing they actually understand these american transmissions properly, and someone mentioned looking for a trusted dodge transmission repair workshop in sharjah specifically instead of a general garage, since apparently getting the software side diagnosed correctly matters just as much as the mechanical inspection for these intermittent shifting faults. anyone else had their durango or charger just randomly get stuck in gear like that and then seemingly reset itself after sitting for a bit, because the randomness of it is honestly what’s freaking me out the most, like i don’t know if it’s going to happen again tomorrow or if it was some kind of one time fluke that won’t repeat. really don’t want to end up stranded somewhere with my kids in the car so trying to get this sorted properly rather than just hoping it fixes itself
