Sky3 to become Pick TV

Posted on 30 January 2011 By Radio&Telly 15 Comments on Sky3 to become Pick TV

Sky3 LogoSky’s non-subscription channel Sky3 is set to become Pick TV on the 28th of February 2011

We understand that the mix of programmes on the new channel will remain generally the same, but the Sky name will vanish from the channel as part of a number of channel changes planned by Sky for February.

Pick TV will be free-to-air on the Sky and Virgin platforms, as well as on Freeview and BT Vision.

    James. No. Please, no.
I like Sky3 on 11 and the +1 on 44, its easy to get to and the only ones I can remember.
And, why PickTV? Why not SkyPick? After all they renamed Living to SkyLiving or is it because its one of the few channels on a multi-platform?

SKY I HATE YOU! Firstly you send millions of pound buying all our favorate channels, Just to close them down (Virgin one, Bravo etc). Then you change the name of the rest (Living, living loves, living it) and play loads more adverts for sky. Now your renaming the one and only good channel on freeview :L Well Done Sky(!) (an note the sarcasm) and I agree with the people on here, If you are going to rename it rename it skypick or don’t rename it at all!

If anyone can remember back to the 80s when the BBC and ITV ripped the p*ss out of sky, by astute business sense (something the BBC will never have as long as it rides the back of an involantary UK public) has become the biggest broadcaster, and thats by people that want it not people FORCED BY LAW to pay for a service they dont want!

Why are they messing about with the channels again??? It’s an absolute flaming rip off!!! First we had to pay for the digital switch over and upgrade tvs, buy freeview boxes. We have to buy the more expensive one’s if we want to record and now your taking channels off us and renaming them!!! All they are after is more money!!! I think we’ve spent enough and the tv license is a rip off. We are supposed to be in a god damn recession!!

I want to know why there wasn’t an inquiry into Sky buying Virgin Media. There was uproar when Sky bought 16% of ITV. Two faced whiskery faced Branson hated Sky, remember the comments when all the Sky programs were took off Virgin Media? Then he sells up when Sky comes along with a cheque for £170 odd million. I suppose Sky will buy Freeview next, and shut all the channels on there down.

Just want to add to the Sky conspiracy, to me it seems obvious. Murdoch wants everyone to subscribe to his TV empire, he is slowly chipping at Freeview, adding more channels that are not a patch on what they take away.

I was an ardent fan of Channel One, half way through some good seasons of American drama, then the ads astarted for Sky Atlantic, then oops! The ‘plug was pulled’ I think the Pick TV slot will be sold to some obscure channel, followed by Sky News slot – heaven help us if Film 4 sell to Murdoch.

I have Topup TV – not the most brilliant, but I am pleased – obviously not the choice Sky customers have, but I get a good selection of films and dramas, and i can always rent a DVD or see a movie should I choose.

I wish Freeview would have a large injection of USA cash and it could show a few channels which would offer the Freeview cutomer that little bit more choice, and blow a tiny raspberry to those at Murdoch Towers who seem to be planning World domination!

No matter what I try i cannot get pick TV ( channel 11) after the re-tuning process. The freeview is integrated in a Panasonic TV. All channels apart from 11 & 12 appear to have re-tuned. Any assistance would be appreciated.
